Pope One of America’s most prominent Catholic cardinals has resigned after an allegation was made that he sexually abused a teenage boy almost 50 years ago.  Theodore McCarrick, the former archbishop of Washington, wrote to the Vatican offering his resignation on Friday, which was accepted by Pope Francis.  A statement from the Vatican issued on Saturday read: "Yesterday evening the Holy Father received the letter in which Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington (USA), presented his resignation as a member of the College of Cardinals.  "Pope Francis accepted his resignation from the cardinalate and has ordered his suspension from the exercise of any public ministry, together with the obligation to remain in a house yet to be indicated to him, for a life of prayer and penance until the accusations made against him are examined in a regular canonical trial." The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has called for a synergy between the newly inaugurated governing board members of federal parastatals and their Chief Executives, to reduce frictions in public offices. The Permanent Secretary, General Services, Olusegun Adekunle, who represented the SGF, made the appeal on Saturday at the induction of the first batch of the recently inaugurated governing board members. The President had on February 27, 2018, appointed 209 board chairmen and 1,258 board members for government agencies and parastatals. He approved the inauguration of the board in order to provide proper governance and oversight structure for government agencies and parastatals. The aim to ensure a good working relationship between these board members and the chief executives of government organizations is the reason why the bureau of public service reforms is organizing this induction for board members. Chief Press Secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom, Terver Akase, The Benue State Government has said that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Adams Oshiomhole, lacks the moral right to accuse other leaders of corruption. The state government said this on Saturday in reaction to comments Mr Oshiomhole reportedly made after Governor Samuel Ortom defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party. “Oshiomhole does not possess the moral credentials to accuse other leaders of corruption,” a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the state government, Mr Terver Akase, read in part. Former Chairman of Akure North LGA, Dele Fagoriola (file)                 The abductors of a former Chairman of Akure North Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo State, Mr Dele Fagoriola, have demanded a ransom of N10 million for his release. The suspects made the demand on Sunday, one day after some unidentified persons stormed the farm of the former chairman in Iju along the Akure-Ikere Ekiti A family source confirmed to reporters that the kidnappers put a phone call through to them, in which they requested for the ransom before they free Fagoriola. But the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr Femi Joseph, informed journalists that the police were already making progress to apprehend the suspects and secure the release of the politician. He noted that he would not disclose the level of findings of the police investigations yet because of the intricacies involved in such crimes. Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage have not exactly been friends. The two songstresses are in competition for the crown of Queen of the industry and they have recently gone public with their animosity for each other. Recall that Yemi Alade publicly claimed to be on the same level with Davido and Wizkid, stating that there is no such thing as number one artiste in Nigeria. She also passed up the chance to stand for Tiwa Savage while on a radio show and the presenter talked down at her rival. The presenter, Misi, stated that Yemi Alade has a fine vocal range while Tiwa Savage just shouts. In reaction to the statement, Tiwa shared a video of herself singing. She also made suggestive posts that alluded to Misi begging from her. The young and his wife were found dead The rather shocking story has been told of a young couple who mysteriously died in their Kaduna home.   The young husband and wife identified as Adamu and Rebbeca Luka, died mysteriously, a development which has sent a chilling shock down the spines of those who gathered to celebrate with them just two weeks before, during their wedding. Local reports show that the newly wedded couple were found dead inside their apartment in Kaduna State and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown till his point.   They died on July 10th and were buried on Saturday, July 14th at the Church Of Christ In Nations, Kuru Abuja.   Below are photos from their burial:

Zone 2 Police PRO Dolapo Badmos has expressed disgust after watching a viral video of some Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) officers brutalising a man with an iron rod while trying to take him into custody. The outspoken police officer who was left in a state of shock by the video expressed anger that some police officers are tarnishing the image of the force with their unprofessional conduct. Badmos, writing on her Instagram page said: I’m so pissed off right now!!! I just don’t want to think of it. Yvan before the surgery Yvan is a young boy who currently has every cause to be happy.    The boy who is just nine years old, was evidently born with windswept legs. Apparently, the deformity has restrained him from walking properly like other normal kids would.  Yvan underwent surgery to correct his deformity However, things have changed for Yvan who is now able to walk well after getting his legs straightened in a surgery. Yvan can now walk like other normal kids.   The surgery was carried by The Mercy Ships, a group hospital ships in developing nations staffed by talented volunteers. The Mercy Ships shared Yvan's story on Twitter;   They wrote: "No longer walking on windswept legs, 9-year-old Yvan is free on his newly-straightened limbs. “Seeing him walk brings me great joy,” says his father, Francis. “He can return to school and be free to play and work towards what he wants to do in the future.”
