Third Mainland Bridge Will Be Closed For Three Days, Not 27 Months – Fashola

The third main land bridge in Lagos will be shut down for three days, starting from July 27, the Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has said. He said this on Monday while addressing some confusion over the period for the road closure, on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily. According him, the bridge will only be closed for three days, contrary to reports that it will be closed for 27 months. “I think somebody mistook the date 27th of July for 27 months, I don’t know how that came about but there was a signed statement from my office and it didn’t contain 27 months”. The 3-day closure according to him, will enable the contractors assess the true state of the road, after which repair works will commence by the end of the year or at the start of next year (2019). SERAP Asks Adeosun To Clear Air Over Alleged NYSC Certificate

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun to clear the air over the allegations of certification forgery leveled against her “without further delay’ and settle the facts of the case once and for all.” SERAP states that “Suspicions of certificate forgery involving a senior member of the government if not urgently and satisfactorily addressed would weaken public trust in the government’s oft-expressed commitment to transparency and accountability.” According to the organisation, Several days after being accused of forging her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate, Mrs. Adeosun is yet to make any official statement in reaction to the alleged scandal. Fayemi defeated the Deputy Governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Professor Kolapo Olusola, and over 30 others in a keenly contested election. He was victorious in 11 out of the 16 local government areas of the state, polling 197,459 votes, and edging out his closest rival Olusola who got 178,121 votes by 19,338 votes.
